IMO World Maritime Day 2016

Dear Seafarers,

Our congratulations & best wishes in line with forthcoming IMO World Maritime Day 2016 (29-Sept-2016)!!!

The World Maritime Day theme for 2016 is "Shipping: indispensable to the world".

The theme was chosen to focus on the critical link between shipping and global society and to raise awareness of the relevance of the role of IMO as the global regulatory body for international shipping. The importance of shipping to support and sustain today's global society gives IMO's work a significance that reaches far beyond the industry itself.

According to the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), around 80 per cent of global trade by volume and over 70 per cent of global trade by value are carried by sea and are handled by ports worldwide. These shares are even higher in the case of most developing countries. Without shipping the import and export of goods on the scale necessary to sustain the modern world would not be possible.

Seaborne trade continues to expand, bringing benefits for consumers across the world through competitive freight costs.

There are more than 50,000 merchant ships trading internationally, transporting every kind of cargo. The world fleet is registered in over 150 nations and manned by more than a million seafarers of virtually every nationality.

Over the past 50 years and more, IMO has developed and adopted a comprehensive framework of global regulations covering maritime safety, environmental protection, legal matters and other areas. Under this regulatory framework, shipping has become progressively safer, more efficient and more environment-friendly.

World Maritime Day will be celebrated at IMO Headquarters on 29 September 2016, but other events and activities focusing on the theme will be held throughout the year.

Dear Seafarers,

Officers and ratings were the participants.

The seamen got an opportunity to meet with representatives of the Seafarers’ Union of Russia (SUR), as well as the Superintendents of the Shipowner's Technical Management - Eagle Ship Management (ESM).

Following issues have been discussed during seminars: the ‘Eagle’ company’s news (including the new bonus system), maritime industry’s latest events, articles of the Collective Fleet Agreement, passing of inspections (PSC), importance of healthy lifestyle (including psychological / mental health), safety & technical issues, Zika Virus ,etc.
Some of special brochures, developed by the leading P&I Clubs and involving the seminar’s topics, have been reviewed. The resources of some mobile applications, useful for sailors, have been demonstrated.

The 1st issue of ‘RUSAM Newsletter’ magazine (available on our website in Newsletter) has been presented to the participant seafarers, likewise, a special program has been introduced, which consisted of bonuses and discounts, provided by some partner companies exclusively (!) for RUSAM seafarers (e.g. ‘Bauhaus’ architectural and construction firm (www.bh39.ru), Fitness Club "Konig Gym" (www.konig-gym.ru), etc.). 25 June / Day of the Seafarer 2016

Dear Seafarers,

Congratulations with the Day of the Seafarers 2016! Best wishes to You and Your Families, good health and stable job!

This holiday was established by IMO in 2010.

This year, IMO's Day of the Seafarer campaign wants to celebrate seafarers and let the world know how and why seafarers are indispensable to everyone.

The campaign theme this year is: "At Sea For All".

The theme has a clear link with the 2016 World Maritime Day theme, "Shipping: indispensable to the world", emphasizing that seafarers serve at sea not just for the shipping industry or for their own career purposes but for all of us – and, consequently, they are also "indispensable to the world".

IMO Secretary-General Kitack Lim said: "this year, on June 25th, the Day of the Seafarer, we are once again asking people everywhere to show their appreciation for the seafarers that quietly, mostly unnoticed, keep the wheels of the world in motion".

You can start spreading the message on social media using the campaign hashtag #AtSeaForAll.

We congratulate You with the Day of Seafarers and invite seamen of all specialties for stable work on modern Bulk Carriers. For additional information visit www.rusamagency.ru / call or visit our office.

Best Regards,
RUSAM
