Summary 2017

Rusam has passed successfully (with zero deficiencies) ISO and MLC 2006 inspections audits, which have been conducted by Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RMRS).
Whereby validity of relevant Company certificates have been reconfirmed. The auditors observed improvements in the Company Quality System.

In 2017 RusAm in cooperation with our shipowner - Eagle Bulk and its Technical Managers conducted 2 Conferences: 15-16 May 2017; 16-17 October 2017, being 8th and 9th Conferences for the period of our cooperation with Eagle. Among the participants there were many Eagle representatives, including Senior Management, as well as representatives of other companies: ChartWorld, PPG Coatings, Gard, Norwegian Hull Club, Lloyd's Register, West of England Insurance Services. The agenda comprised important issues concerning manning of the vessels; there were presentations on the safety of navigation and technical maintenance of the fleet; commercial and legal issues, safety procedures etc. Technical Management appreciated high qualification of our crews. Senior & junior officers took part in the Conferences. Each participant had an opportunity to discuss any question with representatives of the shipowner, to suggest ideas and requests. All participants estimated high level of preparation and organization of both Conferences.

In accordance with RusAm Training System (RTS) we continued to organize seminars for officers and ratings. The library was supplemented with new editions by leading P&I Clubs and maritime organizations. We've introduced new types of trainings, including English language courses & continue testing of seafarers according to Marlins system.

Marshall Islands Maritime Administration revalidated RusAm's authorization for filing flag documents till 2022.

Promotion system keeps on successfully. For instance, this year 6 Chief Officers were promoted to Master position, 8 Second Officers - to Chief Officer position etc.
Most of promoted seafarers started their carrier with RusAm as ratings.

RusAm crews keep on proving their high qualification during voyages and during inspections passed with zero deficiencies - including those in the ports of Europe, Australia (AMSA) , Canada and USA (USCG).

As at the end of 2017, as well as during the whole period of our activities, vessels with our crews do not have any observations concerning MLC 2006 Convention.

Apart from additional training, we proceed with other types of post-voyage interaction with seafarers. Together with RusAm Managers seafarers participated in the activities conducted by the SUR (Seafarers Union of Russia).

The Company has scheduled measures aimed at improvement of its work in 2018 and continue best efforts in this direction.

Season's Greetings from RUSAM!

IMO World Maritime Day 2016

Dear Seafarers,

Our congratulations & best wishes in line with forthcoming IMO World Maritime Day 2016 (29-Sept-2016)!!!

The World Maritime Day theme for 2016 is "Shipping: indispensable to the world".

The theme was chosen to focus on the critical link between shipping and global society and to raise awareness of the relevance of the role of IMO as the global regulatory body for international shipping. The importance of shipping to support and sustain today's global society gives IMO's work a significance that reaches far beyond the industry itself.

According to the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), around 80 per cent of global trade by volume and over 70 per cent of global trade by value are carried by sea and are handled by ports worldwide. These shares are even higher in the case of most developing countries. Without shipping the import and export of goods on the scale necessary to sustain the modern world would not be possible.

Seaborne trade continues to expand, bringing benefits for consumers across the world through competitive freight costs.

There are more than 50,000 merchant ships trading internationally, transporting every kind of cargo. The world fleet is registered in over 150 nations and manned by more than a million seafarers of virtually every nationality.

Over the past 50 years and more, IMO has developed and adopted a comprehensive framework of global regulations covering maritime safety, environmental protection, legal matters and other areas. Under this regulatory framework, shipping has become progressively safer, more efficient and more environment-friendly.

World Maritime Day will be celebrated at IMO Headquarters on 29 September 2016, but other events and activities focusing on the theme will be held throughout the year.

25 June / Day of the Seafarer 2016

Dear Seafarers,

Congratulations with the Day of the Seafarers 2016! Best wishes to You and Your Families, good health and stable job!

This holiday was established by IMO in 2010.

This year, IMO's Day of the Seafarer campaign wants to celebrate seafarers and let the world know how and why seafarers are indispensable to everyone.

The campaign theme this year is: "At Sea For All".

The theme has a clear link with the 2016 World Maritime Day theme, "Shipping: indispensable to the world", emphasizing that seafarers serve at sea not just for the shipping industry or for their own career purposes but for all of us – and, consequently, they are also "indispensable to the world".

IMO Secretary-General Kitack Lim said: "this year, on June 25th, the Day of the Seafarer, we are once again asking people everywhere to show their appreciation for the seafarers that quietly, mostly unnoticed, keep the wheels of the world in motion".

You can start spreading the message on social media using the campaign hashtag #AtSeaForAll.

We congratulate You with the Day of Seafarers and invite seamen of all specialties for stable work on modern Bulk Carriers. For additional information visit / call or visit our office.

Best Regards,

Day of Seafarer 2016
